Heritage Album 1

This was my first ever scrapbook album (1of 3), it's 8X8 and started because thought it was sad if all the "old" photos were just put in a box.

So the photos were the centre stage alot of hidden journalling was used...
...perhaps sometimes too hidden :)

Something different...

I decided to make a "journal" for Charlie for those little things that you don't want to forget but don't need a whole layout or even have a photo.

I made it using the Bind-it-all and a Cover-alls album.

This is the front cover:

It has been covered using Fancy pants paper. I then mounted a Playmobil dolls house window to the cover. (I had originally painted this blue but didn't like it so wiped it off, the excess was difficult to get out of the corners so i left it for a distressed effect). The photo was glued to the frame before mounting.

I cut some soldiers from Graphics 45 paper and added a real toy soldier (painted by Charlie) to the frame.

The inside cover:

I wanted this to be collagey (after all have collected enough pieces over the years for a project like this!!).

The title has been stamped onto masking tape and than added straight to the page.

Also on the page are: X leather game piece, Charlie Choc Factory collector card, Title strip from 12x12 paper, monster cut from October Afternoon paper, last years school photo, handcut star, watch with googly eyes from Charlie art box, stickers, rub-on, hand drawn hearts.

I am now planning to make one for Alfie early years.

5 THINGS FROM LAST WEEK:

1. Alfie now crawls (forward, rolls sideways).

2. He has 2 new teeth (5 in total).

3. He says Charlie (he really does!)

4. Charlie won prize in school raffle.

5. One of my layouts features in Scrapbook Magazine readers gallery.

Album cover makeover...

Last year I redid my baby album as the old photo album had started to "eat" the photos.
I don't know why but I decided to do a pink cover with purple writing, perhaps because I was a baby girl! BUT I don't really like pink or purple!!
So I decided to redo it. (I haven't ran out of projects it just annoys me having pink paper on my shelf). The covers are made from dressing up dolls which I love. I have a collection which was hoping to pass to a daughter some day. I did pass some to my niece and kept some with scrapbooking in mind.
The letters are foam stamps which I stamped onto scrap paper a couple of times before stamping onto the dictionary pages, this is so the wording shows through. I then cut them out leaving a border.
I originally stamped the letters straight onto the material binding using paint and it didn't work! The second result looks alot better and it's a technique I will use agin.

Here, at last, are the pages of Charlies Dressing Up Album:
I have cut the letters (QK Fiesta) out of tissues paper to give a ghostly effect!!!
For this page I have used my favourite technique of the moment, painting bubble wrap! The font is QK sunshine.

Such a simple yet striking layout. Used QK Merry & Bright alpha.
The alphabet used is QK Eliza.
I handcut the headband and the clothing is the QK body die (finally used it after 2 years LOL), the alphas are: sunshine and blossom.
Used a variety of textures on this page, felt being a favourite of the moment and the bandages are cotton tape.
Again used cotto tape to help wording pop! The script paper has been patiently waiting to be used for a LONG time!!

I have saved this material sticker for a special layout and this was it! The peek a boo bunny QK die was present from a friend has is my most used die at the moment.
Lastly, a page which uses scraps and nothing else. The dog card is an old playing card.
