It is gorgeous explosion of colour.

I went for pinks and purples but intend to use this for a layout at a later date and make it more colourful and paint splat effect.

Chicken soup challenge time...

Another challenge has been posted at Chicken soup. This time it's a Glee poster.

Me and Charlie once started to watch one of the episodes, granted it was part way through, but we weren't bitten by the GLEE bug.

Well here is my take:

It shows Alfie getting measured for his first pair of proper shoes.

Small pictures show all the important details, from price ticket to him walking in the park in them :)

Charlie stood next to us photographing every move, felt sorry for the poor lad serving but was pleased when got home.

This layout had brown cardstock for the background so have changed it for more colourful but still not sure :( This could be a layout that gets redone or altered before long.

We're having a VERY busy weekend.

...got my 7 year old nephew staying with us until tomorrow so have taken lots of photos all ready to feature in layouts in the near future or maybe a mini album :)

...Alfie got new shoes because he is walking now, and actually went for a walk outside :)

...have managed to crochet some flowers (3/20 attempts isn't bad LOL :)

Well, i'm exhausted but happy and off to catch up on emails...

Layout Challenge

This one really got me thinking outside my "usual" scrapping style and I loved both challenge and result.

Very arty aka:messy.

Here is the inspiration:

The result:

Took inspiration from bold grungy image with bright yellow background, large white title and the smaller writing at the bottom:

...Firstly, scrunch sheet tissue paper,

...spread glue onto background paper, on top place tissue paper in messy, random way,

...Use edge of scrap card to spread splodge of white paint over background,

...squeeze small splats of paint over the top,

...add photo,

...add title (used wrong side (plain side) of letters)

...print words "i am a computer addict" repeatedly onto paper and cut into strip,

...trim this and rip edges the place underneath photo,

...add brackets to focus on laptop,

.........

As wanted grungy effect photo I changed to black and white with slight yellow tinge then cropped.

This layout was made using scraps.

Paper strips are Basic Grey.

QK Moxie (grand & mini).

Spots punched using Charlies school uniform colours.

He made the dough at school and brought it home to be baked...how nervous was I???...what if I burnt it...well turned out great...he cut it into slices and buttered it all by himself...we ALL tasted it...it was delicious...and we wanted more :)

A sketch Challenge

This challenge was set by Quirky Crafts.

I have just discovered this friendly group of crafters, all started by a local lady :)

Instead of flowers I have used shapes and pictures which link to the layout and the single "flower" has been moved up the circle to fit better with the photo.

The duplo Baby Walker he's sitting in is one of few items left over from Charlie days and that's because a friend had borrowed it. At 10+ years it's still as good as new.

He mainly uses it in 2 ways:

1) Take out the bricks...stand in it...hold the handle tight..rock backwards and forwards very fast until walker moves...if fall out just get up and start again...

2) Take out bricks...sit in it...wait to be pushed around the floor VERY fast...

VERY rarely is it used for walking...

A layout for a challenge

This one is "Monograms". Here is my take:

It will be the front page of the Brothers Album.

I decided to go for colour and lots of it...plus embossing and paint.

The edges have ben created using paint and sequin waste.

Masking taped the waste to the edges then squirted acrylic paint straight on top and rubbed over waste using fingers. Some places left it thick in others spread quite thinly.

The monograms are bare chipboard (sent to me by Ros:) covered in paper.

Acrylic stars cut by hand.

The boy shapes, cut from patterned paper, are QK gingerbread men.

QK CC christmas tree has been used for the arrow, topped off with star.

This shows the embossing using Cuttlebug folders.

Title been stamped.

Stars are cut from flocked paper.

circle stickers complete the borders.

All circles cut using nestabilities.

Handwritten words describe my boys characters: C words for Charlie, A words for Alfie.

It's a very different layout for me but had fun creating it.

The photos don't do it justice but can't seem to get decent ones, the light seems to bounce off the paint: (

It's another challenge...

...I'm enjoying doing these challenges. Sometimes when you hit a creative block or feel your layouts are beginning to look the same it's good to push yourself, or if you just fancy joining in some blogging/scrapping fun.

This is another Design Dollies one. Each week they lay down 3 challenge; a sketch/a colour combo/ and an elements one.
Colour combo: bluewhitegreenbrown.
Sketch as shown over at Deisgn Dollies: my photo is landscape 'stead portrait.
Element is animals: have used animal embossing plate on the green square, little cheeky monkey in the corner of photo, title stamped onto animal paper. Not sure ants count!
Well this week I have gone for the TRIFECTA which features all 3.

...the photo used is definately amongst my favourite for this year. I love that it shows Alfies cheeky playful side, and his favourite thing to do at the moment-Invade my craft area.

I Really don't mind but he will run off with my metal edged ruler (he will not be fooled by the flexi ones we keep trying to give him) and inkpads (which he opens then quickly throws to the floor when he sees us, thank goodness for laminate flooring).

After feeling nervous really enjoyed this challenge and can't wait to do another.

A layout...and a challenge...

The challenge is Nursery Rhyme inspiration well...that's a layout I can do...Hope I have done it right...Will be looking out for the next challenge...
I cant resist using a play on words for the sandpit:

I really loved putting this layout together.

It shows Alfies first turn in the sand.

Have added actual sand to the real sandy parts which cover Alfie in the photo.

A rub on crown has been added to my little king...

Wanted to show the embossed title and fabric (to give sandy texture) has been, badly, machine stitched onto the card.

The top border came about because I stamped something along the bottom and it went wrong so had to cut it off.

 I sanded the top and then added kings crown and castles in the same colour as card.

He's the KING of the CASTLE and the DIRTY rascal.

Ignore the horrid glare on photo cos took late and lighting was awful.

Loved doing this layout.

The cardboard skull is from choccie,

ghost stickers from cookies,

ghost tissue paper is Poundland,

the mini ghosts are hand drawn onto shrink plastic,

(attached these using pva glue when it dries the ghosts actually look see through -cool!)

letters are Basic Grey.

I think this maybe part of a set of layouts for Charlies Halloween party...

This layout is based on a scraplift. Here goes...

I love this photo, it's of Charlie and my nephew Declan.

It was taken in a busy shopping centre which made the background very distracting, so I just scrubbed it out with an emery board :)

You can't see it very well but the strip next to the alpha tape is twisted tissue paper.

The circle embellishments are badges.

The letters are Thickers.

The papers are  Cosmo Cricket...
