This card has been made an inspiration challenge:

 

It is gorgeous explosion of colour.

I went for pinks and purples but intend to use this for a layout at a later date and make it more colourful and paint splat effect.

Cards

The top card is for a male turning 80.

(but don't tell everybody)

Alot of layering, colour matching and keeping it simple:

 

This is for someone who loves her teddy "Henry".

The flowers match the ones on the wrapping paper but it's to small for you to see on photo:

2 things I learnt this week: How to sew button holes AND how to sew neat corners.

Allsorts...

Firstly more bragging about Charlie...

He won a prize for his Victorian Project, he's one of 6 from 30 children so very proud. I also know the amount of work and time he put into it...Well Done : )

A Card...

This was a quickie because had an hour, teething baby and not wanting to face town.

Result:

This was new technique to me. Saw it on a blog but (forehead smack) have forgotten which one...

Used foam stamp (actually from decorating store bargain bin),

Versamark pad,

Chalks (have had these for years, never used),

Stamped the butterfly using versamark onto patterned paper, use a paintbrush to brush chalk onto this,

cut out, add foam dots to lift butterfly, draw border and dots, stamp sentiment using alphabet stamps.

Hope they like it...

No more sleeps...todays the day...

...it's my birthdayyyyyy. Yippeee. I'm 35. An age that suits me so think i'll stay 35 forever and ever...

Sticking with the birthday theme I have made some cards:

..okay, i'm starting with a Thank You card.

This has been made using Nestabilities and Xcut butterfly.

...this one is for my nephew (don't look Daniel).

Made using QK Chick-A-Dee & Blossom font, Fiskars texture plate, Poundland stickers.

...a new area for me: Acetate.

Used alphabet stamps and Nestabilities.

Not sure what I think.

Using a die cut panel, swirl stamp, quotation stamp, Xcut butterfly.

...this took alot of work but enjoyed it.

Stamped panel which i have collaged.

Used QK dragonfly font and journalling paper with zig zag edge which I then cut into card edge.

As Summer looks like it is finally here, this seems an apt photo.

Alfies first taste of ice cream yesterday.

When it dripped onto floor he got on his knees and started to lick it up.

He's like a little lizard, he has to lick everything before touching or tasting it. Not every object is edible...

Have a friends party 40th birthday party tonight.

So last minute remembered no card!!!

Had to whip one up fast with a teething baby this is no mean feat.

This BIG breakthrough usually he will wave to every thing we pass but not to say Bye.

For a change - some cards...

I have a list of 4 Birthday cards (done 3), 2 Congrats cards (done 1), Get well card (done),

I've tried to keep them simple, the top one is a magazine kit and the bottom 2 using free papers.

Scrapbooking is still the preferred hobby because I don't have to worry if people like them.

Right, what's been happening in the Wright household recently:

Charlie has moved up a Times Table group,

He has also started a Victorian project which he loves doing...homework he enjoys that's BIG news,

He complained the words on his new CD were wrong : It says School is cool!

His school has banned children playing TIG.

We have thrown out all Alfies bottles, he is now on soft cup teats,

Alfie now stands up in his cot,

Has been "playing" with paint,

Held onto something one handed for a few seconds.

This is Alfies new TV pose. We don't encourage it but as soon as you put him down he is up again, weather the TV is on or off.
 

Cards.

After all the illness it's back to craft.
Yesterday was Mother in Laws birthday so we made cards.
This first one is The Boys own work:
The hearts were handcut, butterfly drawn, papers picked all by him.
The next card has my favourite embellishments:
I started by cutting a scalloped edge (using a pritt stick lid), sticking a flower paper on the inside of the card.
American Crafts double sided paper was used to cut the butterflies.
Using a mini punch I cut 6 (3 of each colour).
Using Cuttlebug die I cut 2 large butterflies and embossed one with swiss dots embossing folder.
I glued the embossed one flat onto the card, top one I folded the wings up and glued to the card by the body.
Stickles were dotted onto each scallop, the word MUM is a rub-on.
Inside the stamp Birthday wishes and butterfly kisses was used on a pink strip.
Voila!!!
The colours look a bit garish and don't actually do the finished card justice.

Some cards..

I have alot of birthdays coming up in March so decided to make some cards:
Card number 1: This is using a peel offs and scraps plus a (sad!) play on words.

Card number 2: This is made up from scraps, the gingham is tape (accessorize) and the cherry is a button, the label is from a friend (thanks Ros). The sticky dots are my favourite thing to use at the moment.

Card number 3: Tried to make a male card this time. I am not a fan of decoupage -too fiddly- but found an old Disney booklet and decided to make some once started couldn't stop! Sticky dots again and stickles.

Card number 4: Another decoupage design. Made this with a certain little girl in mind, hope she likes it.

A quick christmas card...

I am on roll with my blog. Hope it lasts! To be honest with the school holidays it has been a busy time. Lots of fun things happening even if the weather was against us! Can't complain at least we only had bad rain some places had major flooding and over the seas the weather has caused death and destruction.

We went to Legoland and stayed overnight...Twycross Zoo...Kids Kingdom...Bike Trips...Brixworth Country Park (followed the Little Grey Men trail and went pond dipping).I also passed my (car) theory test...
I love the holidays having my boy at home with me and when he goes back the house seems so empty, although he does miss having his friends to play with. The key is not to let boredom set in...

On the whole not much time was given to crafting most of the projects posted are old BUT I did manage to squeeze some cards in...
I was sent some cuttlebug embossing folder samples from a good friend. I must admit only having used 2x2 goosebumps I wasn't a big embossing fan. Now I have a list of cuttlebug folders. I didn't want to waste the samples (us crafters are resourceful people) I made some cards but because alot of the card surfaces were shiny it reflects off the camera. Did manage to get one though...


I painted the berries and leaves, used a green pen to draw branches, mounted the card onto red then pinking sheared around the edge.
Gold embossed a greeting banner and added to the bottom of the card.

Another card...

I have finished Charlies Dressing Up album but having trouble getting pictures of it!!! In the mean time here is another card.
A fun one and the windmills on the front actually turn - love making these.
The background has been made using bubble wrap (love this technique: Tip from Scrapbook Magazine is to paint some foil then press the cut to size bubble wrap onto it and then press onto paper, it's alot easier than trying to paint the bubble wrap.), letters are QK sunshine.
Even started making Christmas cards...

More cards

Okay they haven't scanned great...These are thank you cards for Charlies teachers.
A+ teacher is made from QK sunshine shapes and font: ribbon added to make a medal (the letter A is Eliza font), a border has been machine sewn.
The second card has been made from scraps of card and alphabet stamps. They have actually been glued to a record card and the edges inked then placed on a plain cream card front but you can't see this from the scan.

Cards (A first for me!)

Okay don't laugh because this is my first attempt at card making. There are some talented card makers amongst my friends and family so I tend to stick to scrapbooking but after being given some Melissa Francis rub-ons with birthday greetings I was inspired to give it a go. I set myself a task to use only materials that I hadn't used before.
Materials used: Gold sticky paper for the Bosskut crown, patterned brads, silver stickles (which cover the dots on the pink balloon), birthday backing paper, QK bookplate.
I made 7 in total and someone actually asked to take one of them for a friend so they can't be that bad. LOL

On a negative note after seeing the nurse about pain in my ear I have been advised not to wear my headphones til it's healed...No Ipod!! after all that time to get it sorted.....
